Firearm Training Chicago is one of the original Concealed Firearm training organizations in Illinois, receiving approval to begin training students in the practice of legally carrying a concealed firearm in Illinois as of September 30th, 2013. Firearm Training Chicago has trained hundreds of students since.

A Concealed Firearm license requires 8 pr 16 hours of training, depending on your prior training experience. While the majority of students are required to attend 16 hours of training for the Illinois Concealed Firearm License, the Illinois State Police are currently allowing the following training credits…

  • 8 hours. Prior Law Enforcement with letter of good standing from prior employer.
  • 8 hours. Active Military or US veterans, honorably discharged. DD214 required.
  • 8 hours. NRA Basic Pistol, Personal Protection courses. Required GENUINE NRA certificates. Please note some instructors have issued their own certificates, these can not be accepted. Sorry.
  • 4 hours. Chicago Firearm Safety Course.
  • 4 hours. Michigan Concealed Carry training.
  • 4 hours. Kentucky Concealed Carry training.
  • 4 hours. Missouri Concealed Carry training.
  • 4 hours. Nevada Concealed Carry training.
  • 4 hours. Florida Concealed Carry training.
  • 4 hours. Utah Concealed Carry training.
  • 4 hours. Illinois Hunter Safety training.

Students who take the Firearm Training Chicago Concealed Firearm Class learn:

  • Firearm safety;
    1. 4 basic firearm handling safety rules
    2. Home storage
    3. Vehicle storage
    4. Other storage, such as, storage at public and private agencies
  • Basic principles of marksmanship;
    1. Stance
    2. Grip
    3. Sight Alignment
    4. Sight Picture
    5. Trigger Control
  • Care, cleaning, loading, and unloading of a concealable firearm;
    1. Gun identification: revolver, semi-automatic, misc.
    2. Ammunition identification and selection
    3. Safety and cleaning protocols
    4. Cleaning equipment
    5. Loading and unloading
  • All  applicable  State  and  Federal  laws  relating  to  the  ownership,  storage,  carry,  and  transportation  of  a  firearm;
    • a.  The Illinois Concealed Firearm Licensing Law relating to the ownership, storage, carry and transportation of a firearm
      1. with emphasis on instruction on the appropriate and lawful interaction with law enforcement while transporting or carrying a concealed firearm.
      2. with emphasis on instruction on prohibited areas and the parking lot exception.
    • b.  The Illinois Firearm Owner Identification Act
    • c.  Relevant portions of the Illinois Criminal Code including but not limited to:
      1. Use of force in defense of a person
      2. Use of force in defense of dwelling
      3. Use of force in defense of other property
      4. Unlawful Use of Weapons
      5. Define dwelling, aggressor, forcible felony and unlawful use of weapons pursuant to the ILCS.
  • Weapon Handling
    1. Handgun fundamentals (See Principals of Marksmanship Above)
    2. Handgun concealment – Drawing your firearm safely from concealment.
    3. Live fire qualification instruction – 30 rounds from varying distances out to 30′.
